Sharing images of where my compass and lens take me...
It's hard to believe that Arizona provides such a picturesque scene as this. One typically goes directly to thinking desert and red rock ~ not flowing streams and lush, dense forests.
Payson, Arizona, however, is different ~ and is such a beautiful place to escape when the valley starts heating up. While it is not the only city in this southwestern state to boast images like this, it is one that personally brings me back to my childhood growing up in the northeast. The temperature is cooler, the forests are verdant, and there are multiple waterfalls in the area drawing the attention of many a visitor whose soul enjoys the serenity of such things.
Horton Creek was on my radar this trip and I absolutely fell in love. While we did not attempt to hike the entire path to the source of the flow of water this trip, we did venture about half way and stopped multiple times to sit, breathe, listen, meditate, and capture the moment in images. I intentionally wanted to take my time ~ getting me out of my comfort zone ~ in order to practice patience, timing, and take in everything around me. This has been a part of my journey - learning how to stop, acknowledge, and appreciate.
