I captured this beautiful close-up of a 'Shirley' Single Late tulip in full spring bloom while visiting Holland, Michigan earlier in the year. It was just after their famed tulip festival, an event that draws visitors from all over to see the gorgeous variety of tulips that thrive in this region each year. This elegant capture highlights the soft white petals decorated with a delicate magenta-violet margin that softly feathers down from the tips. The beautiful soft-focused background of deep purple blooms created a natural, complementary contrast that emphasized the flower's fine edges and unique watercolor-like patterns. In the language of flowers, tulips traditionally represent deep, unconditional love and the fresh promise of spring. Bi-colored varieties, like the 'Shirley' tulip, add an extra layer of meaning.
