Botanicals

From the vivid colors of an orchid and the way dew rests upon a petal to the stories that lie secretly within the weathered trunk of a solid Sequoia ~ getting out in nature has to be one of our favorite things to do in life.  Whether we are taking a hike through the desert or stretching our necks as we march along in a heavily wooded forest robust with towering giants, I love capturing the vibrancy and details the flowers, trees, and other botanicals hold within their form.

Botanicals Collection.

The muscles in my jaw got quite the workout from all the dropping it did the day we visited Sequoia National Park. This towering giant sequoia tree, captured from below, highlights its immense size and textured bark, but simply cannot truly illustrate how majestic it truly to see with the naked eye. The branches reach out towards the light, contrasting against the dark tones of the tree, which is why I chose a black and white image here. I honestly could not get enough of these. My most thought-provoking takeaway? These trees have been standing for thousands upon thousands of years, weathering storms, fires, human destruction and so much more. Yet they have also been homes to woodland creatures and remain transparently steadfast and proud even with ginormous holes running right through their thick trunks. What a testament to perseverance, determination, strength, and sheer will to live. I was in awe that day and remain so every time I see this image on my wall.
