The Gilbert Riparian Preserve is a stunning place to wander, enjoy nature, and witness several species of birds living their best life. During our very first visit there, we hiked around the seven ponds and captured a multitude of images of wildlife. After a few hours, we took a seat for a spell near the water's edge where this female mallard was resting. She seemed so comfortable with us near her and she gave us some of the most adorable glances. I spoke softly to her the entire time, in an effort to encourage her to continue her perfect poses. She would open and close her eyes, ruffle her feathers every few minutes, and just appeared to be ready and willing to offer her best. Her feathers carried so much detail and her eyes spoke volumes
