Landscapes

Mountains, seascapes, desert, and forests ~ there are so many diverse and spectacular scenes to experience on this planet and I have every intention of capturing a many of them as I am capable in life.

Believe it or not, it took me days to figure out why they call this particular rock formation in Sedona, Arizona, Coffee Pot Rock. I was told the structure resembled that of a "percolator," thus inspiring the name, but I had the most difficult time identifying the reference at first. Finally, after days and days of staring at it and finally getting to the moment of post, the percolator structure popped out at me and now I literally cannot UNSEE it. LOL. This red rock feature sits at the base of Thunder Mountain within the Coconino National Forest. It is one of the most recognizable red rock landmarks and is identifiable from many trails in Sedona. This particular view was taken early in the morning on the Soldier Pass Trail during our hike up to a now-not-so-secret cave (you can read about our adventure on the website below). I love how the sun highlights the "percolator" in the morning, but I hear sunset offers its own beautiful imagery and color palette.

The red rock of Coffee Pot Rock formation in Sedona, Arizona, stands out majestically against a near-cloudless sky.
