Landscapes

Mountains, seascapes, desert, and forests ~ there are so many diverse and spectacular scenes to experience on this planet and I have every intention of capturing a many of them as I am capable in life.

While a wide horizontal composition captures the broad expanse of a landscape, the true magic of digital darkroom craftsmanship lies in discovering hidden narratives within the frame. Upon returning home and review of my high~resolution files from the South Klondike Highway, my eye was immediately drawn to a powerful vertical column of energy hidden right inside the wider scene of "Bridal Veil Falls - The Glass Veil". I intentionally chose to crop this image into a vertical format in post~processing because I wanted to isolate and showcase the majestic, unbroken downward flow of this magnificent waterfall. By stripping away the wider environmental distractions of the Mile 10 pass, this vertical crop alters the psychological energy of the photograph in a way that draws the viewer into the frame more. The immense granite canyon walls now appear to tightly grip and direct the rushing white water, channeling its fluid force straight down into a deep, moody gorge of wet stone. Utilizing a 2.5~second long exposure, the chaotic mountain torrent is silenced into a flawlessly smooth, radiant column of white light that acts like a solid structural pillar supporting the mountain face. Handcrafted with a subtle top~down atmospheric gradient that softens the upper tree line, this high~contrast fine~art piece turns a beloved Alaskan milestone into a highly sophisticated, architectural statement. Design Recommendations: This commanding vertical landscape introduces a striking sense of height and structural elegance to a home, making it exceptionally well~suited to anchor a high~ceiling entryway, a narrow gallery accent wall, or a dramatic staircase landing. A commanding vertical fine art crop of the Mile 10 upper tier of Bridal Veil Falls along the Klondike Highway in Alaska. The composition tightly compresses the frame, showcasing a smooth, 2.5-second long-exposure water column that looks like a radiant white architectural pillar. Imposing, dark gray granite canyon walls tightly enclose the waterfall, channeling its downward rush into a deep, shadowed gorge.
