Landscapes

Mountains, seascapes, desert, and forests ~ there are so many diverse and spectacular scenes to experience on this planet and I have every intention of capturing a many of them as I am capable in life.

While the majority of the ship packed themselves shoulder-to-shoulder on the top decks like penguins fighting for a view, we opted for total sanctuary. We nestled into our private verandah, wrapped ourselves up against the elements, and literally spent hours standing in absolute awe ~ and occasionally gasping out loud ~ at the majestic wilderness unfolding as we slowly sailed toward Dawes Glacier. The sheer cliffs of Endicott Arm fjord are a breathtaking showcase of raw geological power. Forged by tectonic forces and carved deep into the earth by crushing glacial ice, these monolithic granite walls rise up to 4,000 feet straight out of the jade-green saltwater. Because Southeast Alaska's temperate rainforest receives over 100 inches of precipitation annually, the landscape is practically alive with water. In fact, after an afternoon of local mist and rain, thousands of transient "waterfall tears" instantly wake up, elegantly cascading thousands of feet down from the mountain peaks. "The Copper Vein" captures one of these magnificent, fleeting ribbons of glacial runoff. Look closely at the center of the frame ~ the dark, wet metamorphic stone is boldly broken by distinct vertical streaks of rich copper-red and iron minerals ~ a vibrant, fiery splash of warmth cutting through the cold Alaskan terrain. Masterfully balanced with deep, velvety shadow details and lush coastal greens, this high-contrast vertical study brings a commanding sense of scale and untouched Alaskan solitude directly into your space. Design Placement: This is an exceptional, museum-grade statement piece perfectly scaled to bring a sophisticated, intriguing, and adventurous energy to upscale corporate offices, modern entryways, or luxury rustic living areas. A high-contrast vertical fine art photograph of a narrow, ribbon-like waterfall cascading down a towering, dark gray granite cliff face in Endicott Arm fjord, Alaska. The wet, textured metamorphic rock is split vertically down the center by distinct, warm copper-red and iron mineral streaks. Deep shadows frame the left side, while lush green Pacific Northwest foliage clings to the mountain crevices, contrasting the bright white stream of water.
