Prints available (see store or copy/paste this link): https://tsbrownprints.com/featured/grantham-point-lighthouse-tina-stevens-brown.html The Grantham Point Lighthouse is a 35-foot red and white tower constructed with brick and stucco. It sits as a beacon and landmark on Lake Dora across from Gilbert Park in the beautiful Mount Dora, Florida. Its claim to fame is the fact that is it the only inland freshwater lighthouse found in the southeastern state that is registered to aid those navigating inland waters in the area. With regard to its navigational responsibilities, the tower's 750-watt photocell guides vessels safely around the waters and into areas such as Gilbert Park, Simpson's Cove and the marina once the sun has set. The area is a very attractive location for foodies and those who enjoy village-type shops, drawing people from all over the central Florida area and beyond. The structure's designated source of light triggers a pulsing red, not your expected white light, that activates as soon as the sun has sunk below the horizon. I went to this area intentionally one night while visiting Florida in early May. While I was hoping to capture a spectacular sunset and get some beautiful reflections, the clouds did not play as nice as I had hoped. In fact, we even experienced a light sprinkle of precipitation once or twice that evening. Nonetheless, I was able to capture some gorgeous images when the sun broke through the clouds on occasion, offering a very brief glimpse of the reflection in the water. *1st PLACE IMAGE: FLORIDA LIGHTHOUSE CONTEST, 6/8/26, ON FINE ART AMERICA To follow my adventures, I invite you to: ~ Visit my Instagram at: https://www.instagram.com/mycompassandlens/ ~ Visit my website at: https://tsbphotography.com Copyright 2026 Tina Stevens-Brown.
