Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

The wild horses that call the Salt River home are a beautiful sight to behold within Arizona's Tonto National Forest. Oftentimes, we will go down and just observe them drinking by the water's edge, grazing in the open fields, or participating in a little horseplay to keep things interesting. The object is to let them be them ~ no interference, no obstruction. Observe, appreciate, and respect. I love that I caught this wild beauty bending its head ever so elegantly. What seems like a regal bow was actually just a delicate grooming in the warm sunlight. The light hitting him perfectly, highlighting his mane and his gorgeous brown coat.
