Wildlife

Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

While taking a lengthy stroll through the Riparian Preserve at Water Ranch in Gilbert, Arizona, I watched as the wildlife there seemed to be living their best lives. It was as if I were visiting a true community of neighbors, one where play, exercise, battles, music, and family all had their place. There were many moments during our excursion where I would just sit for periods of time and respectfully witness their authentic interactions. For instance, this particular opportunity, an American Pekin and Mallard appeared as best buds (or neighbors, even) sitting by the serene water's edge without a care in the world. The mallard was comfortably taking a quick nap while his pal just "duck-watched" for a time. Their contrasting plumage added visual interest to the tranquil scene and I just felt like I was watching two old friends sitting on their "porch" watching people and cars go by.
