Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

Could not believe this opportunity presented itself! While on a lighthouse hunting adventure in Southern California recently, I met this photographer named Ron, who was in the same location hoping to capture images of either the two peregrine falcons or the red-tailed hawks that frequent the area. Ron was kind enough to show me where these gorgeous creatures hang out and we spent some time just keeping an eye out for them. Lucky for us, we struck gold as this gorgeous winged beauty came in and gave us quite the show for a short bit. I was praying I had my settings all correct and just began trying to follow him wherever he flew. I was fascinated with this moment!!! After the falcon grew bored and flew off, I did a quick review of my images and caught a glimpse of this delightful shot. I cannot tell you how excited I was to see his curious eyes staring straight at me, as if to acknowledge he knew my intentions. This was a huge win for me that day. He posed so spectacularly as he rode upon the winds that were ever so present that day.
