Wildlife

Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

I recently noted in another image that my son had taken us to a wetlands area in northern Florida during a recent visit. The scene was bursting with wildlife, including a crazy number of sunbathing alligators!!! This particular one was actually the very first of many that I saw that day, his still body just resting there, partly submerged in the water and partially hidden by surrounding grass. No doubt, he was watching us ever so closely, as we were him! He never budged, though ~ just sat there as if he were sitting on the "edge of his yard" watching tourists pass by. It was a treat, as a photographer, to see his eye glancing towards me, as if to pose, but I kid you not ~ I kept a very watchful eye on that very visible large tooth he had. A large Florida alligator sits on the edge of water in the Sweetwater Wetlands in Gainesville. His eye is fixated on the photographer, while a large white tooth hangs outside of his jaw. It does appear, however, as though he is smiling.
