Wildlife

Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

Two young alligators lie among tangled dry grass and reeds. Their vivid yellow markings make this close encounter especially absorbing, drawing your eye from one small, watchful face to the other. The larger one stretches across the upper part of the scene, its sturdy body and banded tail resting on the straw-colored stems. Below, the second alligator lies at an angle, partly nestled among the grass. You can linger over the contrast between their dark, pebbled scales and the pale, wiry grass, then notice how naturally their bodies settle into the tangled cover. There is a quiet intimacy in seeing the young reptiles resting side by side, close enough for their markings to echo one another. Their stillness gives the scene a gentle pause, while those bright bands keep your attention returning to each little face.
