Wildlife

Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

A bucket list image of mine has always been capturing a hummingbird in action. They are quick, little, tenacious creatures, flying around as if they have a task list unmatched by human standards. So, I knew it was going to take tons of trial and error. So, imagine how excited I was to see I had captured this beauty. Tripod in place, settings in order ~ and there she was, hovering ever so delicately beside these vibrant, red firecracker plants. Even if I didn't capture the moment in a photograph, I enjoyed watching her feast in front of me. Hummingbirds are said to symbolize joy, lightness of being, resilience, and adaptability. They live in the moment and focus wholeheartedly on the task at hand. While some cultures see them as spiritual messengers of love and comfort from loved ones who have passed, others see them as good luck. A hummingbird hovers over what appears to be a vibrant red firecracker plant. Wings are blurred just a bit to show she is mid flight, but aimed directly at the tubular flower and ready to feast.
