Wildlife

Connecting with our furry, fluffy, and funny little friends out in their own habitat has to be one of the most rewarding opportunities for me as a photographer. To capture that image of them locking eyes with me, or even watching them play around in their own environment ~ these are moments that bring my soul joy.

A deer stands among pine trunks, rocks, and green undergrowth. The stillness of this woodland encounter makes it easy to linger with the deer’s attentive gaze. Tall trunks frame shade and soft sunlight while leaves and stones lend the forest floor texture. The photographer identifies the setting as Prescott National Forest near Prescott, Arizona, during an outing to visit Wolf Creek Falls, and recalls this deer as the last of a larger group to cross the road. In the photographer’s memory, the deer paused before moving on to rejoin the others. You can enjoy the quiet suspense of that pause, when a wild animal seems close enough to meet your eyes yet remains part of the surrounding woods. The scattered light and calm posture make this glimpse feel like a gift from the forest.
